Kendra Morales

VP of Client Services

Kendra Morales has completed over 400 executive searches for venture-backed technology companies in her 23 years of executive search experience. At Candidate Labs, she oversees our client services organization.

Kendra launched her career at Hobson Associates in 1999 where she was Rookie of the Year and the youngest person ever promoted to Partner and then Senior Partner. She later joined The Millard Group where she was promoted to Associate Partner 15 months after joining and broke her own record six times for the largest fee closed in company history.

Most recently, Kendra came to Candidate Labs from Betts Recruiting, where she was hired to build out continuous training and development programs, create segment playbooks, and facilitating the overall Betts go-to-market strategy.

Kendra actively serves her community and, in 2013, founded a 501(c)3 non-profit organization For Goodness Sake which is a furniture bank in Central CT that has helped over 2,500 families coming out of homelessness/crisis get back on their feet. She also teaches yoga and meditation at a local prison.

Kendra graduated from Kent State University in 1999.

Jaycie Moller

Jaycie Moller is an experienced GTM recruiter who has completed key hires for some of the most well known startups in Silicon Valley. She has worked across a variety of functions including Sales, Marketing, Customer Success, and Operations. Jaycie joined Candidate Labs as one of the first recruiters and first female in the company. As a Client Partner, her focus at Candidate Labs is to help top startups make their critical “first of” hires.

She has completed searches for high-growth startups including SurveyMonkey, Bill.com, Vonage, Lever, ADP, Pilot.com, Rippling, Deel, Airbase, and OneSignal. While Jaycie started her career in technical recruiting, she quickly realized that she was most passionate about the GTM side of the business. Before Candidate Labs, Jaycie spent 3 years at TheLions, a boutique GTM recruiting firm in San Francisco. There, Jaycie quickly became the #1 producer, was promoted to a leadership role, and completed over 60 searches for both private and post-IPO companies.

Jaycie grew up in Los Angeles and attended the University of San Francisco where she graduated with a BA in Psychology. She was an active member of the Psychology Honors program and spent her senior year researching ADHD in elementary-aged students. Jaycie also worked as a stylist at Stitch Fix during college which was her first taste of the power of a tech-enabled services model - one of the many reasons she was excited about the technology at Candidate Labs. Today, Jaycie lives in San Francisco where you can find her hiking with her GSP (Frankie), figure skating, cooking, and wine tasting in Napa in her free time.

Liam Naughton

Liam Naughton is an experienced search professional who has completed C-level and VP searches for some of the highest profile companies in the technology world today. He has worked across a variety of functions with expertise in sales, marketing, technology, and finance. He joined Candidate Labs in October of 2020 to continue to expand their executive search practice while providing top notch service to their prestigious clients.

Before joining Candidate Labs, Liam spent several years with top tier boutique search firm Daversa Partners. While at Daversa, Liam completed C-level and VP searches for public and private companies in the technology space, and quickly rose through the ranks to senior associate. Based in the New York and Connecticut offices, Liam’s work expanded across the country with placements based in LA, SF, NYC, Boston, and other geographies.

Liam is based in Manhattan and grew up in Darien, Connecticut. While New York is his home today, he finds any and all excuses to go back to Vermont and spend weekends hiking in the Green Mountains. Liam is passionate about youth sports and athletics, and has helped coach multiple YMCA and travel sports organizations. While he played basketball in college, today you’re more likely to find Liam on the golf course rather than the court.

Liam graduated from Middlebury College in Vermont with a degree in history and minors in political science and religious studies.

Giles Van Praagh

Giles Van Praagh began his career in the early 1990's gaining valuable experience spanning buy-side equity analysis, investment banking, and retained executive search. He focuses on partnering with entrepreneurial management teams across the digital, tech, and tech-enabled ecosystems to augment their C-suites with high impact leaders across functional areas. Particular areas of focus include Chief Executive Officer, President, Chief Operating Officer, Chief Revenue Officer, and Chief Marketing Officer.

Giles has experience working with clients across both enterprise and consumer-facing business models. On the enterprise front, he has experience with SaaS, artificial intelligence, IoT, and professional services. In the consumer arena, Giles has experience in eCommerce (including digital native, direct-to-consumer, and more traditional retail/brand) and marketplaces.

Giles' previous executive search roles include Partner at True Search and VP at StevenDouglas. He brings a thoughtful approach to his client relationships. In order to provide the greatest value in any engagement, he is a firm believer in becoming a student of the company, its leadership team, and its overarching definition of success.

A lifelong New Yorker, Giles has partnered with clients geographically distributed across the US, Europe, and the Middle East. Michael Pirone

Mike Pirone has early-stage startup experience both as a recruiter, completing GTM searches for VC-backed startups, as well as a leader, where he managed teams of Sales and Tech recruiters. At Candidate Labs, he oversees our team of Talent Managers and Talent Directors.

Prior to joining Candidate Labs, Mike spent 3 years at CloserIQ, an early-stage tech-enabled recruiting agency. He began as a recruiter working with GTM sales candidates for VC-backed startups before transitioning into management where he managed teams of Sales and Tech recruiters. As an early hire, he played a pivotal role in helping the company triple in size while also starting and scaling the Tech Recruiting division.

Before diving into the recruiting and startup world, Mike spent 3 years as a consultant at Deloitte, where he worked with US government agencies to help develop and implement new processes and systems across various financial reporting lines of business.

Outside of work, Mike enjoys hiking and snowboarding in the Colorado mountains. Mike also enjoys giving back and has been on multiple international volunteering trips with Habitat for Humanity helping to build houses for people in need.

Rance Bauman

Rance Bauman has spent the last 13 years in startup operations management and executive search, where he helped complete over 200 searches across various industries. He joins Candidate Labs as a Client Director to bring additional expertise working with high-growth technology companies on their finance and operations as well as go-to-market roles.

Rance started his career working internationally, first with an international development organization in Port-au-Prince, Haiti and later joining BNP Paribas Asset Management in Paris, France. Returning to the United States, he then spent two years with the private equity firm TPG Capital in New York.

Rance joined Russell Reynolds Associates in 2010 and spent five years working as part of the firm’s Health Services and Biotech/Pharma Practices. Most recently, he helped start and grow Guild Talent, a recruiting firm based in the San Francisco Bay Area focused on working with VC-backed startup companies as employee #2 of the firm.

Outside of work, Rance loves basketball and rugby, and can most often be found in the kitchen – experimenting with new recipes or cooking multi-course meals for friends.

Rance graduated from Eastern Mennonite University with a degree in English Language and Literature in 2000.

Travis spent the first half of his career in collegiate athletics in a variety of operational and fundraising roles. This experience sparked his passion for building winning teams and highlighted the importance of putting the right talent in the best position to succeed. At Candidate Labs, Travis partners with disruptive companies to identify key executives to scale the organization.

Travis joined Candidate Labs from The Bowdoin Group where he was a leader in their digital health practice. He completed seven CEO searches and countless C-level searches across the commercial, product, and finance functions for innovative startups backed by leading venture and private equity investors. 

Travis previously worked in executive search and talent attraction roles at WinterWyman and Pegasystems, a publicly traded software company. He prides himself on embedding himself with clients to truly understand their business and advising them on their most critical talent needs.

As a native Iowan, Travis combines his Midwestern work ethic and values with the pace of the East Coast. He actively serves his community and is a board member of Rebuilding Together Boston, a non-profit dedicated to providing safe and healthy housing to homeowners in need. While not working, you will find Travis cooking (and eating), traveling, quoting movies, and engaged in any sort of competition.

Jamie started his search career at Marvel Consultants, where he focused on placing attorneys with AmLaw 200 law firms across the country. He then became a consultant at ON Search Partners, a top-20 retained search firm.  During his three years at ON, Jamie closed well over 40 executive level searches, working with companies across all industry verticals to fill roles across all functional areas.

Matt is a versatile search professional with a passion for helping high-growth technology companies (and their sponsors) identify and attract top talent.  He has operated within every function of a business organization, executing searches at both the executive and mission critical non-executive leadership levels.  As a Client Director, Matt hopes to continue the Candidate Labs tradition of high touch and highly successful client partnerships.

Prior to Candidate Labs, Matt spent 5 years building his foundational skill set at Signal Partners.  As one of the first recruiting hires, Matt was instrumental in the Signal Partners launch and has played a major role in the company's continued success.  Under the tutelage of founders with 60+ years of combined search experience, he was able to cultivate a bespoke approach that serves client relationships.  Most importantly, it is at Signal Partners where Matt discovered his love for the search industry.  

The son of educators, Matt brings an intellectual curiosity and a dedication to service to both his personal and professional lives.

Matt is a native Angeleno and currently resides in El Segundo, CA.  He has a deep love of the arts, particularly cinema, music, and literature. When Matt isn't working, one can find him at the beach with his dog Charlie.

Lauren Howard brings to Candidate Labs a unique background of both sales and search experience. As a recruiter, Lauren has completed several key searches for high-growth SaaS startups across a variety of functions including Sales, Marketing, Customer Success, HR and Operations. She has also made early placements for innovative startups including ChartHop, Codility, Airbase, Oomnitza, Conversica, ServiceChannel, Rhumbix and more.

Lauren started her career on the Sales side of the house, working her way up from an SDR role to an Account Executive and, most recently, a Regional Sales Manager. Upon joining Elevate Talent, a boutique recruiting firm based in San Francisco, she realized her sales acumen and “hunter” mentality transferred well to recruiting. While there, she was responsible for Account Management and full-cylce recruiting. She quickly became the highest-grossing recruiter on the team and was able to nearly double their client base through her business development efforts. She also established formal partnerships with GTM organizations such as Women in Revenue to help develop deeper connections across Sales & Marketing leadership. Lauren finds that her time spent in sales within startup environments similar to her clients' has enabled her to be more consultative and understanding of their needs.

Prior to Candidate Labs, Tyler began his recruiting career at Betts Recruiting where he learned the ins & outs of the early-stage recruiting lifecycle and the complicated world of SaaS startups and high-growth companies.  Among many achievements, Tyler was responsible for building out the Customer Success vertical in 2014, helping companies hire and understand the new segment that was growing more strategically important. 

After a successful tenure as an individual contributor, Tyler grew to become a manager, overseeing Betts’ East Coast territory, running a team of 20+ and overseeing the growth in that market.

Madison started her career on Capitol Hill as a Staff Assistant and Legislative Correspondent before being (accidentally) introduced to the world of staffing by way of Beacon Hill Staffing Group. During her 2 years at Beacon Hill, she successfully placed over 500 administrative-focused individuals, bringing in $1.3M+ in temporary and permanent placements. 

Most recently, Madison came to Candidate Labs from Betts Recruiting, where she was hired as the first leadership-focused recruiter in their Austin office. Here, she received the Client Excellence Award for consistently delivering top-notch candidates, and was recognized as the first recruiter to hit quota in 2020, achieving over 100% of her $425k quota. 

Outside of work, Madison enjoys hiking, fishing, playing with her dog, Humphrey, and traveling. Before moving to Austin, Madison went on a solo trip to Bali, Australia, and New Zealand.

Previously, Alex was the Assistant Director of Business Development at GRT Capital Partners, an investment manager in Boston. During his tenure, Alex was responsible for client management, introducing investment opportunities and working closely with portfolio company management teams to develop and execute strategic plans including talent acquisition strategies.

He also served as an Executive Vice President of Corporate Development for the private equity group, August Enterprises. While at August, Alex led the corporate development group, providing planning, advisory, execution and integration management solutions for August on M&A, strategic investments, and joint ventures.

Outside of Candidate Labs, Alex spends his time in Connecticut and Vermont with his Australian Shepherd Mackenzie. He is a Special Olympics coach and enjoys playing golf and skiing.

Prior to joining Candidate Labs, Cody led a regional recruiting team at Slalom where he focused on hiring for key consulting leaders across Texas and Colorado. He helped to bring best-in-class search methodology to his region to improve how they engaged with executive hires.

Cody grew up outside of Austin, Texas and attended Baylor University where he studied Human Resource Management. Today, Cody lives in Dallas with his wife, Marissa and two children, Reese and Grayson. Prior to recruiting for technology startups, Andrew spent the first two years of his recruiting career making placements for every aspect of the events industry. From bartenders and brand ambassadors, to security teams and Santa Claus, Andrew was responsible for the full-cycle people logistics for hundreds of high profile events including the Met Gala and the Oscars. 

Off the clock, you will find Andrew exploring, hiking, at the beach, curled up with a book or jetting off to a new country. A nomad at heart, Andrew travels regularly and has spent the last 2 years traveling to 8 different cities in 4 different countries.

She then had the opportunity to work at Seattle Corporate Search, where she placed over 80 GTM and Product candidates for a variety of companies, a majority of them being Pre-Seed-Early stage startups. In her role at Seattle Corporate Search, she was also responsible for bringing on key accounts.

At Candidate Labs, Julia is a Talent Director responsible for partnering with the client team to identify top talent to fill GTM roles at venture-backed companies.

Julia started her career at Guidepoint Global, where she ranked within the top 10 recruiters company-wide and was quickly promoted to a Research Manager, then Project Manager. She handled up to 70 projects at once from start to finish and connected consulting clients with top-notch candidates for their strategy and diligence cases. She exceeded her monthly quota since being promoted, becoming one of the top performers at the company and especially adept at finding qualified industry experts for her client’s research needs. 

Julia grew up in Westchester, New York, and now resides in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. She was an avid synchronized skater and now teaches the basics of ice skating at local NYC rinks. She enjoys reading a good thriller novel, experimenting with new workout classes (the latest is hot yoga), and spending time with family and friends. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Hobart and William Smith Colleges.

Cyssi started her career at Bespoke Partners as a Research Analyst, working with leading private equity firms like Thoma Bravo, Francisco Partners, Clearlake Capital, and Insight Partners to place software talent in a variety of functions including Human Resources, Finance, and Sales. In her role, she was responsible for developing and executing research strategy for search engagements and working with partners to retrieve relevant data and uncover target candidates.

Cyssi grew up in Washington and has lived all along the West Coast from Seattle to San Diego. She graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a B.A. in Interdisciplinary Studies. The culmination of her studies led to a final thesis exploring how to create a more effective online platform with a focus on cross-cultural communication techniques utilized by brands in the global fashion industry. Cyssi can be found splitting her time between fashion, photography, long walks, and baking anything that requires flour, yeast, and sugar.

Kayla is a search professional with experience placing top product and engineering executives for VC-backed and early stage technology companies. Prior to Candidate Labs, Kayla was an Analyst at Parker Remick executing searches for public tech companies and startups backed by Sequoia, Andreesen Horowitz, and Iconiq Capital. 

Kayla grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area and graduated from MIT with a BS in Anthropology. Prior to recruiting, she worked in global and public health research for academic and nonprofit organizations, focusing on racial health inequity and social determinants of health.  As the daughter of a former game developer, Kayla loves playing video games; her favorite console is the Nintendo Switch. She is also an avid cook and baker—she loves baking breads, like sourdough and english muffins.
