My name is Josh Wetzel, Chief Revenue Officer at OneSignal. OneSignal is a customer engagement platform - the world leader in push notifications and in-app messaging. We power about 72% of all websites that use push notifications and 50% of mobile, and we're sending billions of messages a day on our customers’ behalf. Our vision is to enable great ideas to scale and to empower organizations to exceed their goals through customer retention, loyalty, and growth.

Candidate Labs, I really like their story - in terms of bringing data to bear, to be able to make better, quicker decisions on candidates. We share an investor in Signalfire, who is also focused on deriving insight and action out of data.

A Much Deeper Level of Engaged Candidates

I think where I have been surprised is that they do a really good job of qualifying the candidates and screening them, that quite frankly, gets us to a much deeper level of engaged candidates that are excited about OneSignal. And it allows us to quickly get qualified candidates through the process and ultimately fill positions faster than I've seen with other firms.

Two Hires Within 45 Days

Our Candidate Labs engagement started off with an entry level job in a qualification role - we call it Market Development Rep. The candidates we saw were really high quality. 9.5 out of every 10 candidates they showed us, we did a screen with, and from there, the likelihood of us bringing a candidate on-site was higher than I've seen with other firms or with inbound candidates. We were able to hire two people from a standing start within 45 days.

Expansion to Commercial & Enterprise Account Executives

So after that experience, I had a lot of confidence that we could do this with other roles, and we have. We’ve done it both with our commercial account executive team and our enterprise account executive team. In fact, 5 of our last 7 sales-oriented hires have been made through Candidate Labs. They’ve really helped us scale up the org.

Human Touch

Recruiting is very human right? You're asking people to make a decision that next to marriage and kids, is probably the next most important thing in their lives. It's really easy to focus on the skills necessary and underestimate the culture, but chemistry is critical to hiring. Candidate Labs has been able to really understand the essence of the type of individual we're trying to bring onto the team. We were really surprised, and blown away, by how much success they had in terms of qualifying & vetting candidates up front.

If you set a criteria, like I'm looking for this skill set, with this type of experience, having worked in these types of businesses, and I need a diverse panel, Candidate Labs does a great job. Of the last five candidates they've helped us hire, three of them were female.

Partnership With Our In-house Recruiting Team

Our recruiting team is very, very pro Candidate Labs. I hate speaking for our Head of Talent, but she has said multiple times internally, and I think she's told them directly, she loves the partnership. They do a really good job of sourcing, vetting, and qualifying candidates, managing the scheduling, and updating the communication between candidates and OneSignal.

Retained Executive Search

We recently took a chance with them on a retained executive-level role, hiring for our Head of Marketing. I'm excited to see how that plays out, but I'm ultimately very confident that they'll do a great job.
